Yesterday, UCLA Extension’s 42nd Annual Tax Controversy Conference brought together leading tax professionals, practitioners and experts at The Beverly Hills Hotel for timely discussion on the evolving landscape of tax controversy and litigation.

The program featured a keynote with distinguished U.S. Tax Court Judge Emin Toro and conference chair Steven Toscher, offering valuable perspectives shaped by experience from the bench and the field. The day also included the presentation of the Annual Bruce I. Hochman Award, recognizing outstanding proficiency in tax law and a commitment to the principles that defined Bruce Hochman’s distinguished career and legacy.

A UCLA Extension student. A construction leader. Now, an instructor helping shape the next generation. Ravi Pariah’s career has come full circle. 📚 After completing UCLA Extension’s Construction Management Certificate Program, he went on to manage major projects in Los Angeles before returning to to share his industry experience with students. 🏗️

On Nov. 5, Pariah brings that perspective to the inaugural Construction and Career Industry Summit, where he’ll moderate a special expert panel connecting students, alumni and industry leaders.

Did you know that The Trust Building, UCLA Extension's downtown Los Angeles hub, used to have a nickname? It was called "The Queen of Spring Street" due to its large size. Originally opening its doors in 1928, featuring molded terra cotta balconies and Hugo Ballin designed tile murals, the historic Art Deco-style remains an eye-catcher on Spring Street.

What do NFL players do after they retire? For former NFL player Andre Hardy the answer was writing. 🏈 In fact, he started working on his debut novel "Tear the City Down" while taking courses at UCLA Extension.

“It was at UCLA Extension that I was able to get my author journey started,” he said. “It was an incredible program, and even now I could see myself going back and learning something new.”
