Alumnus Clayton Walton SSW'24 has served as the executive director of the Rutgers University—Newark Office of Global Initiatives and Experiential Learning for 10 years.

His focus is on creating local and international partnerships in the Global South (which includes Latin America, Africa, and much of Asia) that are built around sustainable development and address issues of violence against women and children, as well as agricultural work.

“From these partnerships, we’ve been able to do some projects that students have really gravitated toward,” he says.

M. Maral Mouradian and Suhayl Dhib-Jalbut are internationally recognized physician scientists for their work in Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis, respectively. The couple, who were named honorary alumni of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) in 2019, have made a generous gift to establish a professorship for a faculty position at the future Rutgers School of Medicine.

“This legacy professorship will continue to support someone to do important work for Parkinson’s research and find better treatments and a cure," says Mouradian, a Distinguished Professor of Neurology who is founding director of the RWJMS Institute for Neurological Therapeutics and vice chancellor for faculty development at Rutgers Health. "It has been my life’s work, and I want it to continue after I’m done with my career.”

Alumnus Roberto Muñiz LC’82, SPAA’90, the longtime president and CEO of Parker Health Group, will leave a legacy at Rutgers that reflects his own journey as a first-generation college student, reports TAPinto.

An endowed scholarship designed to help students overcome financial barriers to higher education was established by Parker's Board of Trustees and members of Muñiz's leadership team in recognition of his recent retirement.
