L. D. Colter has farmed with draft horses and worked as a paramedic, Outward Bound instructor, athletic trainer, roller-skating waitress, and concrete dispatcher, among other curious choices, and currently freelances as a copy editor and proofreader for Tachyon Publications.

Tammy (TF) Burke is a YA epic fantasy author, writing instructor, speaker, and the owner and CEO of Apex-Writers Alliance (AWA), the writing community originally created by New York Times bestselling author and renowned writing instructor David Farland.
A former student of Farland’s, Tammy became involved with Apex first as a member and volunteer, later helping with the organization following his death. In 2026, she took over Apex-Writers and began its next chapter as Apex-Writers Alliance, carrying forward Farland’s vision of helping writers shorten the learning curve while expanding opportunities for education, collaboration, professional development, and writers helping writers grow.
As TF Burke, she is the author of the YA epic fantasy series Heart of the Worlds. The first book, Faeries Don’t Lie, reached Amazon’s Top 100 in Teen & YA Science Fiction & Fantasy. She has also received four Writers of the Future recognitions: three Silver Honorable Mentions and one Honorable Mention.
Tammy’s involvement in writing communities spans many years. She co-chaired and later chaired the Greater Lehigh Valley Writers Group’s three-day Write Stuff Writers Conference, which achieved a record-breaking sellout under her leadership. She later served as the organization’s president. Tammy also worked as a journalist, publishing more than 400 articles.
She is currently writing the fourth book in her planned seven-book Heart of the Worlds series while building the next chapter of Apex-Writers Alliance around a simple philosophy: writers helping writers grow so no one has to climb alone.
