Join us in congratulating Sanchith Velmurugan, a computer engineering major, on being named a recipient of the IEEE Power & Energy Society Scholarship Plus award!

He conducts research in the Power Quality and Resilience Laboratory where he is focusing on optimizing dynamic wireless charging infrastructure for electrical vehicles. Sanchith aspires to advance the power and energy systems of the future.

A team of senior Industrial and Systems Engineering students from OU’s Gallogly College of Engineering earned third place in the 2025-2026 Material Handling Capstone Design Competition, organized by the Material Handling Industry (MHI) and the College Industry Council on Material Handling Education (CICMHE)

This one-day event brings together faculty, students, startups, and industry leaders to explore advances in materials science across energy, biotechnology, aerospace, semiconductors, and AI/ML. A trailblazer in improving global sanitation, Barbara Evans has been named the recipient of the University of Oklahoma’s ninth International Water Prize. This biennial award is sponsored by the OU Water Technologies for Emerging Regions (WaTER) Center, housed in the Gallogly College of Engineering, and is presented to individuals who have made notable contributions to the field of water supply and sanitation for developing regions.

Evans is a leader in public health engineering and urban sanitation at the University of Leeds, where she serves as a professor and the chair in Public Health Engineering in the School of Civil Engineering.

Gallogly College of Engineering researcher Dr. Feng Yan has received the NIH K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award to advance innovative imaging technologies for assessing donor liver viability before transplantation.

Yan, a postdoctoral research fellow in the Stephenson School of Biomedical Engineering and a member of the Biophotonic Imaging Laboratory, received the highly competitive award from the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB). His project, “Multimodal Imaging Platform for Pre-Transplantation Donor Liver Viability Assessment,” will develop advanced imaging technologies to provide a more comprehensive assessment of donor livers before transplantation, with the goal of improving transplant outcomes.
