💚✨ A Glimpse Into Our Past… A Legacy Worth Preserving! ✨💚

Oh, what a wonderful piece of history! 🥰

A heartfelt thank you to Cindy for sharing this incredible photograph from the 18th Annual Supreme Session of the Daughters of Mokanna, held September 28, 1937, in Canton, Ohio!

Just look at all these beautiful ladies! ❤️

I can't help but wonder about the women standing on those steps. Who were they? What stories could they tell? What friendships were formed, what memories were made, and how many of their traditions are still carried on by our Daughters today?

Nearly 90 years later, we are still part of the sisterhood these women helped build. Different generations, different times, but the same spirit of fellowship that continues to bring us together.

As we prepare for our upcoming “Beyond the Veil: Honoring Our Past, Strengthening Our Future” year, photographs like this remind us exactly why preserving our history is so important.

Every photograph holds a story. Every name deserves to be remembered. And every generation of Daughters has added something special to the legacy we share.

Cindy, thank you again for sharing this treasure! You've given us a beautiful glimpse into our past and a little more inspiration for our Nazir Living Archive! 💚

And to all our Daughters, if you have old photographs, programs, memorabilia, or stories tucked away, we'd love to see them!

💚🏛️ Daughters Day Out — A Journey Through History! 🏛️💚

Girls, I've got another exciting idea brewing for our Beyond the Veil year, and I think this one could be really special! 😁

How would you ladies like to take a little field trip to the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum in Canton?

But wait... there's more! 🤭

While exploring their website, I discovered something that REALLY caught my attention — the Ramsayer Research Center, which preserves historical photographs, newspapers, documents, and stories from Stark County's past!

Of course, my wheels immediately started turning! What if they have pieces of OUR history tucked away in those collections?!

I've already submitted a research request asking about records relating to Nazir Grotto and the Daughters of Mokanna dating back to the 1920s! I'm also reaching out to their archivist to explore the possibility of arranging a special visit for us.

Imagine what we could discover and learn together!

📜 Our Own History: We might uncover old newspaper articles, photographs, or stories about Nazir and the Daughters that we've never seen before!

🔎 Behind the Scenes of History: Learn how historians and archivists research the past, identify old photographs, uncover forgotten stories, and piece together historical events.

📚 Preserving Our Legacy: Discover how to properly care for our old photographs, programs, documents, and memorabilia so future generations of Daughters can enjoy them.

🏛️ Exploring Stark County's Past: See how people lived, worked, celebrated, and built their communities during the same decades our organization was growing.

💚 Making Memories of Our Own: Enjoy a fun day together exploring the museum, sharing a few laughs, and perhaps grabbing lunch or dinner afterward!

And here's what excites me most...

We wouldn't just be learning about history. We'd be learning how to preserve OUR place in it!

Think how wonderful it would be if something we discover becomes part of our new Nazir Living Archive!

Nothing is scheduled yet, and we'll choose a day that works best for everyone. I'm just exploring the possibilities and hoping we can arrange something extra special for our girls.

🚒❤️ WHEN THE DAUGHTERS TAKE OVER THE FIRE TRUCK! ❤️🚒

Well, this wasn't your ordinary Wednesday! 🤣

Today, our Nazir Daughters had the pleasure of visiting the North Canton Fire Department as part of our Oesch Family First Responder Appreciation Project!

What started as a day of giving back to those who give so much to our community turned into an unforgettable adventure!

And as you can see… the girls had an absolute BLAST! 🚒🤣❤️

A heartfelt thank you to Kate for helping make this special project possible, to our wonderful Daughters who came together to show their appreciation, and to the firefighters who made our visit so memorable!

Sometimes the greatest moments happen when we're simply doing something good together. ❤️

🚒❤️ HONORING GREG, CELEBRATING KATE & MAKING MEMORIES! ❤️🚒

Well, this wasn't your ordinary Wednesday! 🤣🚒

Today, our Nazir Daughters had the wonderful opportunity to visit the North Canton Fire Department for our Oesch Family First Responder Appreciation Project!

This special project was created in loving memory of Greg Oesch, and in honor of our dear Daughter Kate and the love they shared.

What better way to honor Greg's memory than by showing appreciation to the first responders who dedicate their lives to helping others? ❤️

Our Daughters came together to deliver goodies, share smiles, and express our heartfelt thanks to the firefighters for all they do for our community.

And as you can see from the video… the girls even got to have a little adventure of their own! 🤣🚒

A huge thank you to the North Canton firefighters for their warm welcome, hospitality, and for giving our ladies a memory they'll be talking about for quite some time!

And to our dear Kate, we hope today was a reminder of just how much you are loved and how Greg's memory continues to inspire kindness and good things in the world. ❤️

Sometimes the most meaningful way to honor someone we've lost is to bring a little joy into the lives of others.

🌟 Meet Our Founder: Josephine Mace 🌟

Girls, this is Josephine Mace—the woman whose vision helped bring the Daughters of Mokanna to life.

In 1919, several Grotto members and their wives hoped to form a women’s organization built on fellowship and shared ideals. They met with Josephine, who served as the Order’s organizer and became our first Supreme Mighty Chosen One. With their support, her dream became reality on June 5, 1919.

The first four local bodies were Amoo in Rock Island, Illinois; Mohassan in Davenport, Iowa; Ankara in Kansas City, Missouri; and Zal in Moline, Illinois. From those beginnings, the Order grew across the United States and into Canada.

Josephine’s legacy lives on in the friendship, service, charity, education, patriotism, and good fellowship we share as Daughters. As we celebrate Membership and Daughtership, let’s remember the woman whose dream gave our sisterhood its beginning. 💚
