For the Fall 2026 semester, we are celebrating 30 years of Project HOPE with a series of alumni stories.

Alumna Laura Thompson joined Project HOPE in 2001 after falling three semesters behind. She reached out to Project HOPE, earning her diploma in December of 2001 as well as completing the Automotive Service Program.

“The focus shift was definitely present at HOPE,” Thompson said. “You were there because you wanted to get high school done. It helped being with a group of people who were all focused on that goal and teachers who would answer all of the questions that pop in my head, and there are a lot of those.”

Now a Senior Engineer Principal at Dell, she recognizes that Project HOPE gave her an opportunity to build the life she wanted.

The school year is underway and our students are hard at work! Barbering students at our Rockwell campus have been spending time practicing their parting/sectioning skills, which are important foundational skills for perfect cuts and styles.

The Barbering program offers students the opportunity to master hair cutting, shaving, beard design, and men's grooming while gaining important safety, sanitation, and customer skills.

Adelaide Burk has always been interested in design and visual arts, particularly aspects like color combinations. That interest led her to Francis Tuttle Technology Center, where she completed the Graphic Design and Communications program this spring.
“There are so many different aspects of graphic design,” Burk explained. “There are so many branches of it that you can do, and so many niches to go into that I felt like I had a lot of freedom there.”

Adelaide selected the program knowing she wanted to work directly with clients, and is currently focusing on freelance graphic design.

The Francis Tuttle Board of Education voted to appoint Estela Hernandez to fill the Zone 3 seat vacated by Dave Gillogly at its meeting on Monday, Aug. 11.

Estela has experience in education at the state level, having previously served on the Oklahoma State Board of Education and the CareerTech Board of Education. She and her husband have owned and operated several businesses in the Putnam City community, providing her with firsthand experience with the needs of employers and our local economy. She is a strong advocate for CareerTech education, having seen the importance of the role it plays in shaping a highly skilled workforce through her family’s construction business. She currently works as a member of Sen. James Lankford’s team, focusing on policy development.

We are thrilled to welcome Estela to the Francis Tuttle family as a valued member of our Board of Education!

Each year, Francis Tuttle Assistant Instructional Directors organize a food drive at the beginning of the year. This year, the Rockwell Campus donation recipient was the Western Oaks Middle School food pantry, which had been low on goods to start the year.
