K-Pop Demon Hunters, Squid Game, the BTS Army, and cheesy corn dogs– Pop Culture from South Korea has taken the world by storm. Much like the British Invasion and Cool Japan initiatives before it, the K-Wave is here. This course traces the use of multimodal and cultural rhetorics in South Korean pop culture. Students will apply concepts of cultural rhetorics in the analysis of global media in conjunction with learning about the complicated geopolitical history of the Korean peninsula while visiting important cultural sites with Professor Vee Kennedy. Come have the experience of a lifetime in Seoul in Summer B, 2027!
