On May 14th 2026, we celebrated our second year students completing their genetic counseling training and welcoming them into the exciting career of genetic counseling!

Our keynote speaker, Kira Dineen, the creator, host, and producer of “DNA Today: A Genetics Podcast”, was able to impart the class of 2026 with knowledge before they take their next step in their journeys.

Congratulations to the RUGCMP class of 2026 and best of luck to each of your bright futures!

First-years Adam and John, and second-year Jess volunteered at the Deaf Mentor Program Family Day picnic on 4/25! They helped register families, set up and take down decorations, and got to meet families with deaf and hearing-impaired children. They also met Cole the Deaf Dog!

Today (April 24, 2026) is Rutgers Giving Day, which provides a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful impact on many different lives. I would like to ask you to join me by making a gift on Rutgers Giving day to the Genetics Counseling Fellowship at https://give.rutgersfoundation.org/genetic-counseling-fellowship/18876.html/?src=WRGD26

100% of all gifts made on Rutgers Giving Days will support educational and professional endeavors for existing or incoming students. This year we are planning to use donations to help our Class of 2027 attend a national professional conference in the Fall which will provide valuable learning and networking opportunities!

The Genetic Counseling Master’s Program comprises five consecutive semesters totaling over 60 credits. The cost is now over $80,000 for out-of-state students. Despite this being the terminal degree, our Master’s students do not receive the same financial support as doctoral students and thus incur significant student loans post-graduation. Graduate students are facing additional challenges with financing their graduate education due to federal changes in borrowing amounts for higher education.

Please consider supporting our efforts!  We know that these talented and hardworking future genetic counseling Master’s students will someday make a difference in patient’s lives.

This year our students have set a goal of $10,000 and we have one day to reach out goal!  No donation is too small (or too large!)!  Every little bit helps!! If you have already made a gift, thank you for your support!
