Welcome to the Department of Public Policy and Administration. See what is happening with our PPA community!

The Department of Public Policy and Administration offers an exciting professional master degree program for students interested in a public service career, the Master of Public Policy and Administration (MPPA). The program draws together the diverse perspectives, technologies and skills essential to a successful career in public management or in one of the many fields within the public policy arena. Unlike programs with a more limited focus, ours provides skills necessary for management and budgeting, as well as analytical tools helpful for understanding the economic implications of policy choices, evaluating policy options, developing political strategies for advancing proposals, and conducting/assessing research projects. Additionally, consideration of ethics and the public good is infused throughout the curriculum. You can find information about our graduate programs at the University's on-line catalog. https://catalog.csus.edu/colleges/social-sciences-interdisciplinary-studies/public-policy-administration/

"I am a first-generation postgraduate student from a single-father, immigrant household, who faced the challenge of navigating higher education without a roadmap, ultimately earning admission to Sacramento State’s MPPA program after six years in the workforce. I am currently pursuing my Master of Public Policy and Administration at Sacramento State. Professionally, I have built experience through full-time association management work while preparing for graduate study, and I am interested in applying my skills toward healthcare governance consulting or museum curation after completing the program, with the goal of improving systems-level decision-making and public outcomes." - Dya H. Carranza
