This weekend, we're proud to award an honorary degree to The Honorable Dr. Darío Gil. 👏
From leading the development of the world's first programmable quantum computers at IBM and making them accessible through the cloud, to serving as Under Secretary for Science at the U.S. Department of Energy — overseeing the nation's largest federal investment in basic research in the physical sciences — Darío has spent his career pushing the boundaries of AI, quantum computing, and scientific discovery.
He is the force behind major scientific initiatives including the International Science Reserve, the AI Alliance, and the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab, and previously served on the RPI Board of Trustees.
Darío embodies what it means to turn bold ideas into global impact — a true pioneer shaping the future of science.
