This morning we finished our first week of practices with “The Great Bar Triathlon”. Our novs and varsity members teamed up for a rowing, biking, and running workout. Good job to all of the novices that joined this week! Looking forward to a great year. Shoutout to the winning teams Phat with a P for the men and Wabashin’ It for the women.

As this summer comes to end we’d like to highlight what some of our athletes have been working on at our boathouse. Getting a good erg in, making use of our great weight room, and even getting out on the water are some of the ways our local athletes have spent their summer. We’d like to give extra love and thanks to our Historian, Catherine Eliopoulous, for the work she has and continues to put in organizing and beautifying the boathouse. Over the past two months Catherine has organized our storage room, begun a garden, and started to put in new shrubbery out front. Thank you to Catherine and all our other athletes who helped keep our boathouse breathing this summer! Thinking about joining us? Thinking about joining us this Fall but not sure about rowing? Don’t worry! There’s another deeply important role on the crew: the Coxswain. Sitting at either the bow or stern (front or back) of the boat, the coxswain serves as the brain of the boat during the race; they’re the team’s eyes and ears, in charge of steering the boat, and making quick decisions about how to tactically win a race. They might not pull an oar, but they are still the most vital force in the boat, having to both manage and motivate the team. If you are a quick thinker who loves to lead, hype, and strategize, join us this Fall as a coxswain!
