RU Band Society is for musicians at the University of Reading to form bands, organise jams, and get gigs around reading http://www.rusu.co.uk/societies/rub

For gig-goers and musicians at the Reading University to meet like minded people wishing to form bands, jam and find friends through their love of music. We have frequent events and socials including Encore, a night of live music run by students, for students, as well as jam sessions at local rehearsal studios. The committee are a mix of non-musicians and musicians, which share a love for live music. Please contact us with any questions! This society is run by students for students.

A quick throwback to the last WK LIVE gig.
Volume Two of .earth.records and WK LIVE is happening tonight at Purple Turtle, with an array of melodious bands from Reading to Dublin.
We hope to see tonight.
Tis free and doors start at 7:30pm. First band on close to 8pm!

Catch up doing a cd DJ set a Purple Turtle playing the good choons inbetween volume 2 of .earth.records and WK LIVE

If you liked the last one, you’re in for a treat for this one on the 21st. On the line-up are the local legends doops , alongside high energy and angst-driven LEECHES, topped off with 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐆𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 as a cherry-topping headline from Dublin, who have supported the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Gurriers and Murder Capital.

Who says there’s nothing going on in Reading? Not us.

Thank you to everybody who came to our Jam Night on Monday!

Everybody was fab to listen to, and we expect you at the next Jam on the 23rd November.

In the meanwhile, we have two cheeky gigs. One with UoR Rock Soc 🪨 on the 11th November, with all student bands. We will also be joining .earth.records on the 21st October, where we’ll be CD DJ’ing alongside some great bands: doops 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐆𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 & LEECHES

If you enjoyed the gig during freshers with tummyache , Mr Speed and Tiam 🌞 , you’ll love the next on the 21st!

What a sweeter night?

Thank you to everybody that came tonight and joined us on our first social. We hope you met some lovely people, explored Reading and really enjoyed yourselves!!!

You guys are cute!

We have a meet up tomorrow at L29, on London road campus at 8pm, showing around the music department & facilities, alongside our groups and what we offer :)

Our annual Pub Crawl!

Our first social with consist of a cheeky peruse around Reading at different pubs and bars, as we get to known one another. We’ll be joined by UoR Rock Soc 🪨, who we usually do this annual event with, alongside the lovely who will be joining us.

You do not need to drink to participate, and we ask everyone to be respectful of both people and venues.

On Tuesday we’ll be doing a meetup at the music department, showing the facilities with University of Reading Music, and seeing how we can get you involved in the music you want to be involved in :)

Bandsoc has made its way back, bringing the jams, the live gigs, the soul, the music, the BANDS.

Meet the committee who will be running Bandsoc this year. We have some gigs, workshops, jams and socials prepped on the way for you all, to bring a fresher span of music to Biscuit Town.

Next Bandsoc SHOWCASE gig : stars & spurs !! Save the date : Saturday 22nd March at the rising sun arts centre. Presenting you with several new uni bands making this gig their debut bandsoc gig ! It is a cowboy and alien themed gig so fancy dress is encouraged! Doors will open at 7pm with music starting at 7:30 with Midsolid & La Cura , followed by out the outtic , Patina and Sundaughter.
We will be selling bandsoc Merch, the bands’ merch & fundraising money for the arts department so be sure to bring ya pocket money 😊
We will be hosting a arts and craft evening in prep to decorate the venue please like the message on the WhatsApp chat if you would like to partake !
