WVSU TeatroTayo, in partnership with Dakila Iloilo, presented Adlaw sang Tienda at the Iloilo Terminal Market on September 6, at 5:00 P.M. The theatrical production was held inside the market to share the realities and triumphs of the vendors.

By turning the bustling market stalls into a live stage, the performance bridged the gap between traditional theater and public art, giving a poignant voice to the unsung heroes who fuel the city's daily trade. Beyond providing a lens into their daily lives, the play served as a critical call for accountability, urging authorities to ensure that public market developments genuinely prioritize and protect the vendors they claim to serve.

The event drew crowds of shoppers, passersby, and fellow vendors, turning a routine evening into an impactful celebration of resilience, local culture, and community advocacy.

When loveโ€™s arrow struck,
Cupid smiled with sheer luck.
As the red string of fate unites
Two hearts burn with unknown desire.

Cupid, what a great matchmaker!
She knows the perfect lovers.
But Heaven must be cruel,
For love is not meant to find her.

โ€‹She looks at her bow and arrowsโ€”
With her charm, love could grow.
Yet, her heart cries out in wonder,
If one day the arrow of love could find her.

As Cupid continues her thought,
Tears fall like ice-cold frost,
Knowing something within her is lost
A love she could grant but could not have.

โ€‹Alas, fate doesn't guarantee;
It was never truly meant to be,
Longing for whatโ€™s never destined,
Hoping for something that is not intended.

Surely, love is certain, at its cost.
And Cupid knows her heavy lost.
It should be praisedโ€”endless, meant, and true,
A love that defies fate.

At five in the morning, before the first student enters a classroom, before the first employee unlocks an office, before the city fully remembers that it is awake, someone is already working.

A janitor bends over a floor that strangers will soon walk across without noticing its shine. A security guard stands at a gate, greeting faces that may never learn his name. A helper prepares a meal for a family that is not their own while thinking of the family waiting for them somewhere else. A street sweeper gathers the remains of yesterday before today begins.

And they leave long after everyone else has gone. We often look for heroes in extraordinary places.

We remember the names carved into monuments and printed in history books. We admire those who run toward danger, those who sacrifice, and those whose courage changes the lives of others.

But heroism does not always arrive with a grand moment.

Sometimes, it simply shows up.

Because the world does not move forward through extraordinary people alone. It moves because ordinary people continue doing what must be done, even when no one is watching.

A country does not stand on monuments alone.
A community does not survive on recognition.
A home does not remain standing because of one person's strength.
It stands on people.
On the hands that clean what others leave behind.
On the eyes that stay awake while others sleep.
On the backs that carry what others cannot.
On the feet that keep walking, even when they are tired.

Take them away for a day.

No people willing to do the jobs that society has become comfortable overlooking.

What would happen?

The gates would remain unguarded.
The rooms would remain uncleaned.
The streets would slowly drown in what others throw away.
The buildings would stop functioning.
The homes would become heavier.
The tables would grow empty.
And suddenly, the people we barely noticed would become impossible to live without.
That is the strange thing about everyday heroes. We often recognize their importance only when they are gone.

A janitor is called only a janitor until no one cleans.
A security guard is called only a guard until no one is there to watch.
A helper is called only a helper until there is no one left to help.
A farmer is called only a farmer until there is nothing left to eat.

But there is no such thing as โ€œonly.

There is nothing small about standing under the heat, through the rain, or into the night so that someone else can feel safe.

And there is nothing insignificant about work that keeps countless lives moving without asking to be noticed.

The heroes around us fight quieter battles.
They fight exhaustion.
They fight hunger.
They fight long hours and small wages.
They fight homesickness.
They fight the pain of leaving their own children so they can provide for them.

And still, they return.

Tomorrow, the janitor will return to the floor.
The guard will return to the gate.
The helper will return to the work that waits.
The driver will return to the road.
The farmer will return to the field.
The delivery rider will return to the streets.
Not because someone will build a statue for them.
Not because their names will be announced.
Not because a crowd is waiting to applaud.
But because someone depends on what they do.

And that may be one of the purest forms of heroism:

So look around.

Look at the person cleaning the place where you stand.
Look at the guard opening the gate for you.
Look at the helper carrying more than what is visible in their hands.
Look at the driver taking people where they need to go.
Look at the farmer whose work helps put food on the table.
Look at the people whose work has become so familiar that their sacrifices have become invisible.

History gives us heroes we are taught to remember, and life gives us heroes we are asked to recognize.

Because a hero is not always the person whose name survives for generations.

Sometimes

๐—ฎ ๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ผ ๐—ถ๐˜€ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€๐—ผ๐—ป ๐˜„๐—ต๐—ผ ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚, works while you are there, leaves after you are gone, and makes your day easier without you ever knowing how difficult theirs was.

And maybe the greatest tribute we can give them is not another ceremony.

It is to finally see them.

Not as only a janitor.
Not as only a security guard.
Not as only a helper.
Not as only a driver, farmer, vendor, or worker.
But as the quiet strength beneath the ordinary lives we take for granted.

For even before your day begins, someone has already opened the gate.

Someone has already cleaned the floor.
Someone has already carried the burden.
Someone has already stood watch.

And without a monument, without a medal, without even knowing that anyone is looking,
