[RDE SPOTLIGHT]

Davao del Norte State College (DNSC), through the RAISE Phase 2 Project, proudly showcased student innovation through Mr. John Vincent P. Buladaco, an MIT student who pitched his capstone project, “AQUACARE: Real-Time Water Quality Monitoring System for Bangus (𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘴 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘴) Fish Cages Using IoT-Based Analog pH, Dissolved Oxygen, and Temperature Sensors.

The project was presented during the RAISE XI Agritech Venture and Innovation Pitch 2026, organized by the Southern Mindanao Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (SMAARRDEC), as part of the Davao Agri Trade Expo (DATE 2026) on September 19, 2026, at the SMX Convention Center, Davao City.

He was likewise invited as a resource speaker during the SMAARRDEC Farmers and Fisherfolks Convergence at the Regional Science, Technology and Innovation Week (RSTW) 2026 on October 15, 2026, at the same venue. During the convergence, he shared AQUACARE with farmers and fisherfolk participants, highlighting how technology can support their livelihoods and strengthen local aquaculture.

AQUACARE utilizes Internet of Things (IoT) technology to monitor key water-quality parameters in real time, supporting timely, data-driven decisions for improved bangus production and more sustainable aquaculture practices.

Congratulations, Mr. Buladaco, for representing DNSC and advancing technology-driven solutions for the aquaculture sector!

[WATCH] One week ago, Davao became a meeting ground for ideas shaping the futures we want to create.

The 2nd Davao Sustainable Futures Conference (DSFC) 2026 unfolded at the Grand Regal Hotel in Davao City, where researchers, educators, development practitioners, government partners, and future-builders gathered to ask a fundamental question: What kind of future are we building and who are we building it with?

Held on October 1–2 by the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) Region XI, the conference carried the theme “Futuring Together for SDG 17: Local Action, Global Connections".

Across plenary sessions, keynote presentations, and research exchanges, participants from colleges, universities, and government agencies explored emerging possibilities and challenges across nine thematic areas.

Presentations, ideas meeting ideas, institutions finding common ground, and people turning conversations into possibilities stood as a testament to what can take shape through partnerships, collective imagination, and the willingness to act together.

Congratulations to all participants and organizers!
