The Department of Educational Policy & Leadership (EPL) in the School of Education (Formerly EAPS) at the University at Albany enhances the understanding and practice of leading educational organizations and policy analysis across all levels of education. The faculty are regionally, nationally, and internationally recognized experts in educational policy as well as elementary, secondary, and postsecondary school management and leadership. Through studies leading to a master's degree (M.S.), advanced graduate certificate (A.G.C.), or a doctorate (Ph.D.), students are prepared to be successful educational leaders as school and district level administrators, college and university faculty and administrators, and researchers and policymakers at domestic and international agencies and foundations around the world.

Congratulations to EPL Associate Professor Kathryn Schiller and EPL PhD students Sarah Ibrahimi and Emily Casey-Wagemaker, who presented at the Northeastern Educational Research Association Annual Conference in Trumbull, CT! The group presented their research paper, Instructional Transformation in an Era of Ambiguity: Observations from the New York State PLAN Pilot, which is part of a larger study with the New York State Education Department.

EPL Associate Professor Gilbert Valverde participated as an invited presenter at the regional forum "Built to Last: What Works in Teaching Reading and Math," a high-level policy event co-hosted by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic served as host for the event under the leadership of EPL alumna Ancell Shecker Mendoza (EAPS PhD, 2011), Vice Minister of Education for Technical and Pedagogical Affairs.
