Every snack on the table was labeled "not for human consumption" because for one day in August, chips, and candy were lab equipment.

Sixteen high school students in our Momentum pre-college program spent a day in a Wentworth chemistry lab testing everyday foods for sugar, starch, protein, and fat, then moved on to enzymes using pineapple, kiwi, banana, and avocado. It was led by Chemistry Professor Yalinu Poya, whose point to the students was simple: science is everywhere, and you don't need fancy equipment to find it.

Momentum is for students entering grades 9 and 10. Registration for summer 2027 opens in January.

Women@Wentworth is launching something new. The Grad Network's first Graduate Women's Reception is Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the CEIS Lobby.

The idea is simple: build a community that connects and supports women and allies across Wentworth's graduate programs and alumnae/i network. Come meet Desiree Patrice, MS '17 Civil Engineering; Casey Swenson, M.Arch '13; and Suleyma Merchan Nocove, MS '26 Civil Engineering, and spend an evening talking mentorship, careers, and what comes next.

Wentworth has more than 80 student organizations, and the Women in Cybersecurity chapter is one worth knowing about.

An affiliate of the national WiCyS organization, the chapter is open to students in any major, with no prior cybersecurity coursework required.

Members attended the WiCyS annual conference in National Harbor, Maryland last spring (pictured), where they took part in technical workshops, a capture-the-flag competition, and a career fair connecting students directly with employers across the security industry.

Have you ever wondered what it takes to build a city? For Wentworth alumna Sarah Tavares (Civil Engineering, '18), it is all in a day's work.

As an associate inspection engineer for the City of Boston, Sarah reviews building codes and construction plans for everything from residential high-rises to schools. She even had the unique opportunity to return to campus and inspect Wentworth's newly completed Sweeney Field Athletics Complex, calling it a "full-circle moment."

Wentworth's Sweeney Programs in Construction Management is looking at how to bring 3D laser scanning into the classroom.

Associate Professor Hariharan Naganathan spent a day in New York with Trimble's Ian Warner, working through a full reality capture session at Audubon Terrace, the 1911 Beaux-Arts building on Broadway at 155th Street that once housed the American Geographical Society. They planned scan locations, collected data on site, and registered everything into a single 3D point cloud.

It's the kind of work that documents as-built conditions on renovation projects and feeds the models construction teams actually build from.

The inaugural ranking recognizes 500 institutions out of roughly 2,600 nationwide that award bachelor's degrees. Its heaviest factor, at 75 percent of the total score, is student outcomes: what graduates earn, whether they finish, and how quickly a degree pays for itself.

Can architecture dynamically engage with the human body?

Wentworth Architecture Professor Katarina Richter-Lunn explores this question in "Animated Materiality," a new installation now open in the Casella Gallery on campus. Supported by the Wentworth Spark Grant, the full-scale prototype uses advanced sensing technology to make physical environments respond and resonate with human movement.

Congratulations to Professor Richter-Lunn, Emmanuel Osorno, and student research assistant Gabe Asacker on bringing this incredible human-centered design project to life. Catch it on campus before it heads to the Pinkcomma Gallery in Boston this fall!
