Introducing She Champions Oregon (SCO), a women-led community rooted in philanthropy, connection, and impact at the University of Oregon.

Grounded in the belief that women's voices and generosity help shape the future, SCO unites women and allies who are dedicated to proactive engagement— expanding student opportunities, fueling innovation in research and programs, and championing the university's highest priorities through Oregon Rising.

Through mentorship, community-building, shared learning, and collective giving, SCO is creating a space where women can lead together and spark meaningful change across the UO and beyond.

"She Champions Oregon brings together women whose passion and generosity will help shape the University of Oregon's future." — Melissa Scholz, Founding Advisory Council Leader.

We're excited to launch this new community and can't wait to see the impact we create together.

From braving the Oregon Trail to settling in Eugene, the McClure's journey has become woven into the fabric of UO.

Generations later, when two great-great-great-grandkids step onto campus, their family presence echoes through the University's halls and traditions.

"Between my ancestors who were part of the campus many, many moons ago, to now my two kids taking advantage of everything the UO offers, we feel very, very connected to the school," Kathleen McLeroy said.

Inspired by that deep devotion, the McLeroy's joined the Family Advancement Council, which allows them to be part of the greater UO community, support their children's dreams, and witness their growth as they make their own mark on campus.

A short-term crisis shouldn’t stand in the way of a student’s path to graduation. 💚

At the University of Oregon, donor-supported programs like the Students in Crisis Fund and Feed the Flock help students navigate unexpected challenges—from housing and utilities to food and academic supplies. In 2024–25 alone, the Students in Crisis Fund supported 165 students with nearly $119,000 in emergency aid, helping them stay enrolled and focused on their education.

Donor generosity is also helping expand the Feed the Flock Student Food Pantry, with a new on-campus location planned for fall 2026—ensuring even more Ducks have access to the resources they need to thrive.

When Ducks support Ducks, students can focus on learning, growing, and reaching graduation. 🦆

One Duck's legacy of language, learning, and global connection 🌎

The impact of Janet Hughes Mesereau lives on—through classrooms, conversations, and connections that reach far beyond campus. A teacher, mentor, and lifelong advocate for education, Janet believed language could open doors and bring people together.

Today, her legacy continues through a scholarship supporting Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistants at the Yamada Language Center at University of Oregon.

Through every lesson taught and every story shared, Janet's passion for service and education continues to shape lives for generations to come.
