Two Schieffer College students are bringing history to life at one of the nation’s oldest collegiate speech competitions, the 101st Battle of Flowers Oratorical Contest in San Antonio.

Senior journalism major Aliyah Guthrie (left) and senior communication studies major Grace Gadler (right) have spent countless hours researching, writing and memorizing original speeches that explore this year’s theme, Lawmakers and Lawbreakers. Now, they are ready to take the stage and showcase their storytelling, performance and passion for history.
