How do we cultivate home, in our hands, our daily work, our moments of care? Join us on March 20 for the second installment of The Quiet Holds Us, a story series exploring interiority through the voices of Black immigrants. In this session, Daniel reflects on gardening, memory, and the small labors that sustain life. Through gesture, story, and attentive presence, we enter his world: a quiet exploration of adjustment, longing, and the places that hold us. We are invited to witness the ways home is practiced, tended, and remembered, even when it can never be fully recreated.

🚨🚨 Upcoming Workshop!! 🚨🚨

Digitizing Reality: Being There with Volumetric Video
The John & Fonda Elliot DI Faculty Fellows Event Series with David Silva

🗓️February 18 from 4-6 PM, Reactor Makerspace

Digital avatars are commonly used across communication technology to bridge interpersonal distance and facilitate collaboration in digital environments. Avatars offer a unique ability to express oneself and creatively engage with digital media, but in performance and task-oriented situations, sometimes a real person’s likeness is necessary. Using volumetric video and the XR_Collaboratory in the DI Hub, this workshop will build on the processes to capture digital twins of real-world people and objects to bring them into virtual, immersive environments. Participants will engage with volumetric video, Depthkit, and Unity, but no prior experience is required. Participants are encouraged to bring ideas and their own use cases to the discussion.

Kent State alumni and community members are invited to participate in this event.
