Lights, Camera, Biola! 🎬

On October 15, more than 1,500 guests gathered to celebrate the dedication of Biola University’s new studio facility for the Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts — a $75 million, 45,463-square-foot space designed to equip the next generation of storytellers to make an impact through film, television, digital media and game design. The celebration featured a red carpet, remarks from university leaders, a ribbon-cutting with President Barry Corey and In-N-Out Burger Owner and President Lynsi Snyder-Ellingson, followed by tours of the state-of-the-art facility, which was made possible in part by a lead gift from Snyder-Ellingson. The school’s name honors her grandmother, Esther L. Snyder, a longtime friend and supporter of Biola.

From the 3,000 sqft Van Daele Soundstage to the 277-seat Dyer Theater featuring 4K projection and Dolby Atmos sound, the new facility gives students the tools to bring meaningful stories to life. And, of course, the evening wrapped up with In-N-Out Cookout Trucks serving up Double-Doubles! As Biola approaches 50 years of cinema and media arts education in 2027, this milestone represents more than a new building. It’s an investment in storytellers who will use their creativity to share truth, inspire audiences and make a lasting impact on the world. The next chapter of storytelling starts here!

Last night, Biola University publicly unveiled Streams of Influence: The Campaign for Biola University while dedicating the state-of-the-art studio facility for the Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts. The 45,463 square-foot building is the hallmark of the $250 million comprehensive fundraising initiative. The campaign’s foundational conviction draws from Biola’s co-founder Lyman Stewart’s prayer from the groundbreaking of Biola’s original building in downtown Los Angeles in 1912, “Let it be our hope and prayer that from this place shall radiate streams of influence that will be a great blessing, not only to the multitudes around us, but also to the darkest places on the earth.”

A red carpet, flashing lights, building walkthroughs and an In-N-Out afterparty rounded out the night, with the focus being on how Biola students are already radiating streams of influence into the darkest parts of the world, with special emphasis on the many stories of excellence in craft and character coming from the Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts.

Scenes from our annual 91st Torrey Memorial Bible Conference ❤️ Let us keep being Undone by and living in the light of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Acts 2:22-24
“Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.”

A new era of technology at Biola University begins in 2027!

In September, the Biola Board of Trustees unanimously approved the establishment of the Haque College of Engineering and Technology, a significant step in advancing the university’s growing investment in teaching, research and the development of technology. The Haque College will officially launch in Fall 2027.

The college is named in honor of Dr. Promod and Dorcas Haque, whose longtime and generous support has helped further Biola’s vision to establish a premier program in math, physics, computer science and engineering within Christian higher education.

President Barry H. Corey shared, “I am deeply grateful for Promod and Dorcas Haque and the many years they have faithfully stood with Biola and believed in our mission. For 19 years, Promod has served on our Board of Trustees, bringing wise leadership, remarkable expertise and a steadfast commitment to who we are as a deeply and unapologetically Christian university. Naming the Haque College of Engineering and Technology in their honor recognizes a legacy of transformational support, relentless service and faithful commitment built over many years.”

With construction already underway for the Engineering Garage and Robotics Hangar, movement in the technology space at Biola is notable. We’re excited to keep asking, “Can we build this?” and, “Should we build this?” and, “How can our work honor God and serve humanity?”

On September 18, 2026, the Biola community gathered for a historic milestone: the 100th annual signing of the “Red Book”, The Workers’ Register and Articles of Faith.

For 100 years, institutional leaders have affixed their signatures to affirm their commitment to Jesus Christ and the mission of Biola University.

To mark the centennial, President Barry H. Corey invited all university faculty and staff to join the Board of Trustees in signing the register alongside historic signatures from founders T.C. Horton, Lula May Crowell, Louis Talbot, and Dallas Willard.

“In signing this book, with one eye trained on history and another on the future, we recommit ourselves to keeping Biola University grounded in its convictions while moving her forward with courage.” — President Barry H. Corey
