Cancer Bioethics: A groundbreaking new course!
Columbia University’s Master of Science in Bioethics Program is thrilled to launch an exciting new course, the first of its kind in the country, on Cancer Bioethics. This course addresses crucial gaps in bioethics education, preparing students to engage with the distinctive ethical challenges arising in rapidly evolving cancer research, treatment, surveillance, prevention, and policy.
Developed by Louis P. Voigt, MD, MS (Intensivist and Ethics Committee Chair at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center); Jamie C. Riches, DO (Oncologist at Columbia University Irving Medical Center); and Shiyu Song, PhD (Instructional Designer at Columbia School of Professional Studies), the course brings together clinical ethics, research ethics, health policy, and social and legal perspectives, examining ethical questions throughout the cancer continuum.
To learn more about this and other cutting-edge courses in the M.S. in Bioethics program, please register and join us for a virtual information session at noon on October 7, 2026 at 12:00 pm, or visit our website.
