🚨 We're hiring!🚨 The SJSU King Library is looking for a dynamic and strategic leader for the role of AAACNA Studies Center director. 📢

🕯️The AAACNA Studies Center is a unique, 6,000-square-foot academic and cultural hub located on the fifth floor of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library at SJSU. Born out of decades of student advocacy and campus equity movements, the Center serves as an open-stack research and community space dedicated to amplifying the histories, literature, and voices of historically underrepresented communities. 🌻

🧭 What makes AAACNA truly distinct is its rare structural and community-driven model: it physically and academically integrates four distinct ethnic studies collections - Africana, Asian American, Chicano, Native American, and comparative Ethnic Studies—under one roof to foster cross-cultural dialogue, interdisciplinary research, and belonging. 🌐

This is a distinctive opportunity to provide strategic leadership and shape the Center’s high impact programs, initiatives and collections. 📚

🏳️‍🌈In celebration of both Q***r History and American Archives Month, the SJSU Special Collections and Archives’ invites you to explore a new exhibit that explores over 70 years of dialogue within LGBTQ+ community publications about daily life, group concerns, and political actions in San José, Santa Clara County, and the greater Bay Area. 🏳️‍🌈

This massive collection of 📰newspapers, magazines, event programs, organization newsletters, periodicals, and reference materials illustrates the events that shaped, defined, and changed the last near-century of LGBTQ+ history. 🌈

A variety of these highlights include: the first Gay Pride events, the early days of the AIDS epidemic, arts and entertainment commentary, and local and national debates about issues such as employment discrimination, marriage rights, military enlistment, and political representation. 💅

This digital exhibit is dedicated to highlighting the creativity of 💙SJSU students, and giving Spartans💛 the chance to promote their work on the King Library 4th- and Digital Humanities Center video walls. and add the opportunity to your CV/resume!
