🚶 October is National Pedestrian Safety Month. This week’s reminder: speed matters.

As vehicle speeds rise, so does a pedestrian’s risk of death if struck. Slowing down can help save a life.

✅ Follow the speed limit, especially in school zones and neighborhoods.
✅ Slow down near crosswalks and yield to pedestrians.
✅ Watch carefully for people walking, especially at night or in bad weather.

Everyone is a pedestrian. Let’s help everyone get home safely.

🚌 It’s National School Bus Safety Week, October 19–23!

According to NHTSA, the most dangerous part of the school bus ride is getting on and off the bus.

Do your part to keep kids safe:
🟡 Slow down when yellow lights flash.
🔴 Stop when red lights flash and the stop arm is extended.
📵 Stay focused and watch for children near bus stops.

Your decision to stop can save a life.

🎤 Building confidence, one presentation at a time!

Today, CT Transportation Leadership Program Cohort 11 gathered in West Hartford with T2 Instructor Jeff Flowers for Module 3: Public Speaking and Presentation Skills.

Participants learned practical tools for organizing their ideas, connecting with an audience, and delivering clear, persuasive, and engaging messages. These essential leadership skills helped them build confidence as communicators!

To close out the day, each participant put those skills into practice by delivering a three-minute presentation on a topic of their choice, followed by constructive feedback from Jeff and their classmates. It was a great opportunity to learn from one another and grow together!

🌙 When daylight fades, pedestrian safety needs extra attention.

During National Pedestrian Safety Month, remember: more than 3 out of 4 pedestrian fatalities occur in the dark, according to NHTSA.

🚗 Drivers: Slow down, stay focused, and watch carefully for people walking, especially near crosswalks and intersections.

🚶 Pedestrians: Use sidewalks and crosswalks, choose well-lit crossing locations, and wait for drivers to stop completely before crossing.

Let’s help everyone get home safely.

🚶 October is National Pedestrian Safety Month! Let’s help keep every generation safe, because someone’s grandma is counting on you.

Drivers: slow down, stay alert, and always watch for pedestrians. When approaching a crosswalk, yield to people crossing and leave plenty of space so other drivers can see them, too.

A little patience behind the wheel can make a lifesaving difference. ❤️
