The Internationalization Office was happy to welcome Ms. Luna Fixelles, one of our AFS exchange students from Belgium, who is now a first-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in English at SMU. 📚✨

Today, Aug. 11, Luna visited the Internationalization Office together with Ms. Jullainne Candy Lou Bajo, the President of AFS-SAGA, and other student buddies.

Luna officially started her classes yesterday, August 10, marking the beginning of her college experience at SMU. We are happy to have you with us, Luna! 💙🌏

Global mobility isn’t just about going abroad—it’s about building friendships that last forever! These connections go far beyond classrooms and borders, turning distant places into home and strangers into family.

On August 5, the Internationalization Office welcomed Jasfer Dela Cruz and Wendy Vallejo, two Marian alumni from its first Erasmus+ batches; Lei Keneth Lolong, a Marian student soon heading to Belgium under the same program; and Dinka Joy Gijsels, Wendy’s dear buddy from Belgium who traveled all the way to visit. This meeting shows that every exchange creates bonds that truly span the globe. 💛✨

Erasmus+ is the European Union’s program that provides funding and scholarships for students around the world to study, train, and gain international experience.

Saint Mary’s University formally welcomed its newest AFS exchange students from Italy, Switzerland, and Belgium during the AFS Students Welcome Program held on July 17, 2026, at the University Boardroom. The event marked the beginning of the students’ academic and cultural immersion at SMU while reaffirming the University’s commitment to internationalization through intercultural learning and global engagement.

The Internationalization Office team takes Ms. Sofie Devos, Dutch instructor for Project Maalaga Batch 2, on a cheerful tour across the province. Mr. Nico Magangat joins along as their reliable driver and travel buddy 😊

Cool mountain air, green landscapes, refreshing falls, and great company all day. They enjoyed nature’s beauty, fresh surroundings, and scenic spots while feeling relaxed and lively throughout the trip. Beautiful sights and happy moments made it a truly rewarding day!

The Dutch language learning sessions officially began last July 1, 2026. Conducting the language classes is Ms. Sofie Rachelle Devos from Belgium.

Saint Mary's University, through the Internationalization Office, successfully kicked off the day with the Orientation Program for Project Maalaga Batch 2, equipping its 21 selected nurse candidates with full details on guidelines, policies, support services, and the roadmap ahead for this international enrollment‑to‑employment journey. 🥳🎉

The day continued meaningfully with Holy Mass and the blessing of Balai na Alumni, asking for guidance over the place and this new journey for everyone 🙏🕯️

This was followed by a heartfelt Welcome Program, where the batch was officially welcomed alongside university administrators, partners from Belgium, and the Dutch language instructor. This marks the start of an exciting path toward international training and global opportunities! 🤝🌍

Last June 27, 2026, the 21 selected Project Maalaga Batch 2 candidates arrived at the Balai na Alumni, marking the beginning of a new chapter filled with Dutch language learning, preparation, and opportunities beyond borders.

Project Maalaga, a program that supports international training and employment opportunities for Marian nurses, is the first international enrolment-to-employment program of Saint Mary’s University.

CommTECH Camp Highlight 2026 is a two-week program organized by the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) in Indonesia, which brings together students, faculty, and staff from around the world to explore community and global issues through project-based learning.

The program offers academic courses, cultural activities, site visits, community engagement, and collaborative workshops, all designed to deepen participants’ understanding of technology and community development within the Indonesian context.
