LOOK || COLORS

The Saint Mary’s University Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (SMU ROTC) Unit added solemnity and distinction to the 6th Nueva Vizcaya Historical Congress by rendering the Entrance of Colors during the opening ceremonies held on October 24, 2026, at the Fr. Gerry Bouckaert Hall.

Anchored on the theme "Celebrating the Living Heritage of Nueva Vizcaya: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Indigenous Histories, Cultures, and Education," the academic and historical gathering brought together scholars, educators, and community members to honor the province's rich cultural legacy.

Leading the ceremonial presentation was C/MAJ Dan Edison F Dinolan 1CL, serving as Color Officer. The precise ex*****on of the Entrance of Colors reflected the discipline, respect, and patriotic spirit upheld by the SMU Corps of Cadets.

LOOK || 11TH TRAINING DAY (HEALTH ADVOCACY SEMINAR AND MIDTERM EXAMINATIONS)

The Saint Mary’s University Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (SMU ROTC) Unit successfully held its 11th Training Day on 24 October 2026, integrating health awareness and academic assessment for its basic cadets and fellow NSTP components.

The day commenced at 0730H with the traditional assembly, rigid attendance check, and standard inspection of military bearing and discipline. Following the formation, cadets gathered at the Fr. Cornelius Tonus, CICM Gymnasium for an Interactive Health Advocacy & Awareness Seminar.

The seminar formally opened with welcome remarks delivered by Dr. Mary Grace M. Bulatao, Dean of Student Affairs & Services. Featuring guest resource speakers from the Department of Internal Medicine at the Region II Trauma and Medical Center (R2TMC), the session imparted vital health literacy and medical awareness aimed at enhancing the physical wellness and operational readiness of the unit.

Following the seminar, basic cadets transitioned to their Midterm Examinations. The assessment comprehensively evaluated the cadets’ knowledge, comprehension, and practical application of the lessons covered throughout the previous training sessions, ensuring that the term's core learning objectives were met.

The successful ex*****on of the 11th Training Day was made possible through the firm coordination, guidance, and support of NSTP Department Head Mr. Domingo T. Guntalilib Jr., the Training Staff, Graduate Military Assistants, and the Corps of Cadet Officers—once again demonstrating unit discipline, teamwork, and a steadfast commitment to service and leadership.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 || 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐄𝐄𝐒

The Advanced ROTC Cadet Officers of Saint Mary’s University were recognized for their outstanding dedication, discipline, and service in ensuring the success and security of various university events.

In recognition of their commitment, the cadet officers received Certificates of Recognition and tuition discounts Upto 100% for the first semester of Academic Year 2026-2027.

Several cadet officers also proved that excellence in service can go hand in hand with academic achievement, earning spots on the Dean’s List and receiving Bronze Merit Awards.

Heartfelt thanks to Sir Domingo T. Guntalilib Jr., NSTPO Head, for his unwavering support, leadership, and guidance in empowering and molding Marian cadets.

The Saint Mary’s University ROTC Unit proudly led the Procession and Entrance of Colors during the Recognition 2026 Ceremony held on October 21, 2026, at the Tonus Gymnasium.

The solemn presentation of colors set a dignified and inspiring tone for the celebration, honoring Academic Scholars, Entrance Scholars, Service Grantees, and Dean’s Listers — a true tribute to excellence, discipline, and Marian pride.

The ceremony was led by C/Maj Keith F Colcol 1CL, who served as the Color Officer. Through precision, discipline, and professionalism, the SMU ROTC Unit once again upheld the Marian spirit of leadership and service, embodying the core values of Honor, Duty, and Patriotism.

LOOK || 10TH TRAINING DAY

The Saint Mary’s University Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (SMU ROTC) Unit successfully conducted its 10th Training Day on 17 October 2026, focusing on tactical fundamentals and core military knowledge.

The morning commenced at 0730H with the cadets assembling for formation, followed by a strict check of attendance and an inspection of proper military bearing and discipline.

Following the formation, cadets gathered for classroom instruction on Basic and Preparatory Marksmanship, led by 2LT Arthur N. Viernes Jr., PA (Res). The discussion highlighted weapon safety protocols, proper sighting, and fundamental marksmanship principles essential for field application.

The academic portion continued with a lecture on Map Reading conducted by MSg Val Menardo D. Basilio, PA (Res), providing cadets with practical knowledge in land navigation, grid coordinates, and military map interpretation to enhance their situational awareness and operational readiness.

The training day concluded with strong coordination under the guidance and support of NSTPO Head Mr. Domingo T. Guntalilib Jr., the Training Staff, Graduate Military Assistants, and the Corps of Cadet Officers—exemplifying discipline, readiness, and a steadfast commitment to service and leadership.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 || 𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐄-𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐈𝐓𝐘 🌱

In a collective movement toward ecological sustainability and active citizenship, the Saint Mary's University ROTC Unit joined forces with provincial partners and youth delegates for a joint Tree-Growing Activity at Brgy. Villaros, Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya on October 4, 2026.

Organized by the 𝟴𝟲𝘁𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 “𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿” 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗺𝘆, alongside the Provincial Local Youth Development Office (PLYDO) and the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya, the event convened student leaders, cadet officers, and youth advocates across the province to champion environmental protection.

The SMU ROTC cadets planted native trees to aid local reforestation efforts, reinforcing green leadership, military discipline, and the enduring spirit of 𝘣𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘩𝘢𝘯.

Through these efforts, the SMU ROTC Unit directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically advancing 𝗦𝗗𝗚 𝟭𝟯 (𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻) by combating environmental degradation, 𝗦𝗗𝗚 𝟭𝟱 (𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱) through forest restoration and terrestrial conservation, and 𝗦𝗗𝗚 𝟭𝟳 (𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀) by collaborating with military and government partners for long-term community impact.
