It had been the former Student Housing Division of the UPLB Housing Office (UHO).

Every graduation attire holds a story of perseverance, triumphs, and dreams realized. Through 𝗨𝗣𝗟𝗕 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗝𝗘𝗖𝗧 𝗦𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗔𝗬, we aim to turn your cherished graduation attire into a part of another student’s graduation journey.

By calling for donations of graduation-related attire, this project seeks to reduce financial burdens, close the participation gap, and breathe new life into unused community assets during the graduation season.

𝗜𝗣𝗕 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗚𝗥𝗜-𝗕𝗔𝗬𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗛𝗔𝗡'𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗽 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝗦𝗛 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳

In response to the university's initiative in addressing the energy crisis packaged through the "AGRI-BAYANIHAN: Ugnayan ng Pamantasan at Pamayanan para sa Seguridad sa Pagkain sa Gitna ng Krisis sa Enerhiya", a Training on Crop Production and Management was organized for the student dormitory personnel last 26 May 2026, 9 AM-3 PM, at the Women's Residence Hall Lobby.

The training was conducted by the UPLB Institute of Plant Breeding (IPB), in coordination with the UPLB Office of Student Housing (OSH), as part of the university's efforts in strengthening unit-based vegetable gardens and capacity building. With its four-lecture series, the activity featured hands-on demonstrations from invited speakers from IPB.

The first lecture titled “Crop Production Practices,” was delivered by University Reseaecher Ms. Jennelyn C. Bengoa, followed by the second lecture titled, “Seed Harvesting and Processing,” which was presented by University Researcher Ms. Maria Cielo Paola B. Rodriguez.

A practical demonstration of the third lecture with the title "Simple Nutrient Addition Program (SNAP) Hydroponics," was discussed by the SNAP project staff Mr. Rustom P. Velasco and Mr. Allen T. Lanao, followed by the concluding lecture of "DIY Natural Farm Inputs" facilitated by University Researcher Bengoa and Agricultural Technician Mr. Crislan Aglibot. Additionally, the training activity also involved pre and post tests, open forum, training evaluation, and seedling distribution for participants.

In retrospect, OSH Director Marcelina C. Miranda thanked the speakers and participants for their active participation and support in promoting sustainable food production initiatives for student dorm residents and staff within the university community.

The UPLB Office of Student Housing (OSH) formally received the official turnover of the Integrated Resource and Inventory System (IRIS), an initiative developed under the Engineering Industry Research (EIR) Program of the Department of Industrial Engineering, UPLB College of Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology (CEAT).

The system was designed and developed by Mr. Ryan Ezekiel O. Cabrera, a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering student, under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Marc Immanuel G. Isip as main adviser and former OSH Director in collaboration with the OSH through the unit’s internship program.

Developed to support the operational needs of the office, IRIS aims to improve the efficiency of resource and inventory management within the UPLB Office of Student Housing.

The UPLB Office of Student Housing (OSH), in partnership with the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs (OVCCA) and the University Planning and Maintenance Office (UPMO), conducted an orientation on the UPLB Waste-at-Source Segregation (WASS) Guidelines and Collection Schedule for its student dormitory personnel last 23 April 2026, 2-5 PM, at the Women’s Residence Hall Lobby.

A three-lecture series was conducted with the invited speakers from OVCCA and UPMO as part of the orientation. Lecture 1 with the title “Status of UPLB Solid Waste Management and Collection” was delivered by Engr. Leonidas A. Caoili from UPMO followed by Lecture 2 titled University Guidelines on Waste-At-Source Segregation with Engr. Paulo Altoveros from OVCCA.

A Solid Waste Management Mapping, Assessment, and Compliance Evaluation was given as an activity to the participants as the orientation finally proceeded to Lecture 3 titled “Composting of Food Wastes and other Biodegradables” delivered by Dr. Virginia C. Cuevas.

OSH Director Marcelina C. Miranda delivered the closing message at the UPLB WASS guidelines and collection schedule orientation, emphasizing the activity’s purpose in strengthening waste management practices within the student dormitories.

Yesterday, April 23, 2026, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs (OVCCA) supported the UPLB Office of Student Housing (OSH) in the successful conduct of the 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲-𝗮𝘁-𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗪𝗔𝗦𝗦) 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲 held at the Women’s Residence Hall, UPLB. The activity gathered dormitory personnel and partner units in a shared commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

As part of OVCCA’s support, Engr. Paulo Altoveros served as a resource speaker and presented the University’s guidelines on waste-at-source segregation—emphasizing the importance of coordinated and community-driven action.

The program was further enriched by Engr. Leonidas A. Caoili, who discussed the current status of UPLB’s solid waste management and collection systems, and Dr. Virginia C. Cuevas, who shared practical approaches on composting food waste and other biodegradable materials.

Through dialogue, collaboration, and hands-on engagement, participants from various residence halls and units strengthened their capacity to implement effective and sustainable waste management practices across campus.

This initiative highlights the continued partnership of UPLB offices in promoting environmentally responsible communities—starting from our shared living spaces.
