The Graduate Studies Office of the Department of Forestry, College of Forestry and Environmental Studies (CFES), of the Mindanao State University- Main Campus proudly invites the academic community, researchers, and forestry and environmental science enthusiasts to witness the upcoming Thesis Proposal Defense of our Master of Science in Forestry candidates who are currently enrolled in FRM298- Research Methods.

The Mindanao State University – College of Forestry and Environmental Studies (MSU-CFES), Department of Forestry is now accepting applications for its graduate programs for the upcoming academic term. We invite dedicated professionals and aspiring researchers to advance their expertise in forestry and environmental management.

Available Programs:

🌳Master of Science in Forestry (MScF) – Thesis Track

✍️Note: Five (5) slots are available for the DOST-STRAND Scholarship.

🌲Master in Ecogovernance and Social Forestry (MESF) – Non-Thesis Track

🗓️ Important Deadlines & Schedule:

⏳April 30: Deadline for submission of CFES admission documents.

🕛May 4–8: Face-to-face Interviews.

🕕May 11–15: Assessment for admission and scholarship applications.

⌛️May 18–22: Forwarding of documents to the DOST Focal Person.

📑General Documentary Requirements:

✅Filled-out Application Form.

✅Original or Authenticated Transcript of Records (TOR).

✅Authenticated copy of Diploma.

✅Honorable Dismissal or equivalent documents.

✅Recommendation letters (two former professors and/or one immediate supervisor).

✅Concept Paper for the proposed Research/Thesis (for MScF) or Capstone Project (for MESF).

Prof. Atty. Renato S. Pacaldo, PhD and Asst. Prof. Randell Keith P. Amarille of the College of Forestry and Environmental Studies, Mindanao State University, Marawi City, Philippines, together with Prof. Dr. Miraç Aydın of the Faculty of Forestry, Kastamonu University, Türkiye, published a Research Article in a Q1, Scopus-Indexed and SCIE Journal (Atmospheric Pollution Research) by ELSEVIER. The research quantified soil CO₂ effluxes of post-fire black pine (Pinus nigra Arnold) forests as affected by fire types, slope orientations, and soil moisture extremes. The research highlights how fire type, slope orientation, and soil moisture extremes synergistically influence CO₂ emissions, identifying Surface fires in south-facing slope as a CO₂ pollution hotspot, and therefore should be a priority in post-fire rehabilitation efforts.
