Our inaugural UNT Engineering On Site | TIAA event was a success, bringing together academic expertise and industry leadership for an enlightening conversation about the future of information technology.

Hosted at TIAA headquarters in Frisco, Texas, the event provided an opportunity for UNT Engineering leadership, corporate partners, alumni and technology professionals to exchange perspectives on emerging IT trends, industry challenges and opportunities for innovation.

Moderated by Dean Paul Krueger, the panel featured experts from the University of North Texas and TIAA, highlighting the value of collaboration between academia and industry in navigating an evolving technology landscape.

A special thank you to TIAA for hosting this event, our panelists for sharing their expertise and everyone who joined us for an afternoon of insightful discussions and meaningful connections.

We look forward to continuing to strengthen industry partnerships and creating opportunities that connect education, innovation and professional communities.

Meet another one of our awesome Peer Mentors, Sebastian Rodriguez, a UNT Biology major who is also minoring in Chemistry and Spanish! The COS Peer Mentor program pairs newer students with experienced mentors who help them adjust to college life, develop strong academic and personal habits, and connect them with campus resources.

“I enjoy helping other students feel more comfortable navigating UNT, and I saw the program as an opportunity to use my own experiences to help others navigate their first year here,” said Sebastian, who is fluent in Spanish and has also served as an Eagle Ambassador and a College of Science Student Ambassador. “I’ve enjoyed getting to know my mentees and sharing things I wish I had known when I was a freshman!”

Sebastian’s academic goals include earning an A in both Microbiology and Anatomy & Physiology this year and understanding the material well enough that he can tutor others on the subjects.
