On Friday, we brought our Professional Science Master’s (PSM) and Master of Energy Transition and Sustainability (METS) students together for our mid-semester social! 🎉💙

It was a great opportunity for students to connect, unwind, and build friendships outside the classroom. We love seeing our PSM and METS community come together!

Meet Mira Zaboube!

Mira, a student in Rice University’s Master of Science in Bioscience and Health Policy program, recently completed a research internship at Baylor College of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry under the mentorship of Dr. Nidal Moukaddam.

Her research explored the intersection of cannabis policy and mental health, examining how different regulatory approaches influence psychiatric outcomes and patient safety.

Her biggest accomplishment? Becoming a first-author published researcher in Psychiatric Times with her article, “The Psychiatric Impact of Cannabis Policy: More Than a Legal Framework.”

Through her experiences at Rice, Mira has combined her background in pharmacology with her passion for medicine, mental health, and healthcare policy as she works toward her goal of becoming a physician.

Congratulations, Mira! We’re incredibly proud of your accomplishments and can’t wait to see what you achieve next!

This weekend, our Rice University Professional Science Master’s alumni and current students came together to volunteer at the Houston Food Bank and support our Houston community.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this that bring our PSM family together beyond the classroom—connecting alumni and students while making a meaningful impact in the community we call home.

A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered and spent part of their weekend giving back! 🦉💙
