Engineers from the UH Cullen College of Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University have developed a new mRNA-based strategy that dramatically amplifies the T-cell response to vaccines. Akash Gupta, UH assistant professor and CPRIT Scholar, is first author on the study published in Nature Biotechnology (Nature Portfolio).

UH engineers helped develop an mRNA-based strategy that boosts cancer-fighting T cells and, in mouse studies, helped eliminate tumors.

Lei Fan of the UH Cullen College of Engineering has received a CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to explore emerging computational paradigms, including quantum-classical optimization methods, that may provide new ways to address these integration challenges.
