Colorado has the Buffaloes. We've got bison. 👀💜

At K-State's Konza Prairie Biological Station, bison are more than a familiar face on the Kansas prairie. They're part of long-term research helping scientists understand how grazing shapes the ecosystem and how grasslands may respond to drought and climate change.

The Wildcats are on the road. Our bison are holding it down at home. 🌾

Congratulations to Jessica Heier Stamm, associate professor of industrial and manufacturing systems engineering and recipient of the Iman Outstanding Faculty Award for Teaching!

A dedicated educator and mentor, Heier Stamm connects engineering concepts to real-world challenges, helping students develop the skills to solve complex problems and make a meaningful impact. Through her student-focused approach to teaching and research, she empowers the next generation of engineers to turn their curiosity into solutions that make the world a better place. 💜

Kansas State and Nebraska came together on the basketball court yesterday to honor Greg Sharpe, a beloved broadcaster who left his mark on both the Wildcat and Husker communities. 💜❤️

A 1986 K-State graduate, Sharpe served as the Voice of the Wildcats from 1996 to 2002 before becoming the Voice of the Huskers in 2007. He held that role until his passing in February 2025.

In honor of Sharpe and his connection to both universities, K-State senior Nate Lowen and Nebraska senior Harmon Johnsen joined forces for a special broadcast on their universities’ student radio stations, carrying forward his legacy through the next generation of broadcasters.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and K-State is helping make a difference! 💗🎃

The Pink Pumpkin Project is a community-driven initiative raising awareness about breast cancer screening, supporting survivors and honoring loved ones.

Through a unique collaboration with the HaysMed Foundation, K-State Extension – Cottonwood District, K-State Extension Master Gardeners, the K-State College of Agriculture, HaysMed and Carrico Implement, an entire acre of land is dedicated to growing a special variety of pink pumpkins to benefit the cause.

Congratulations to Thomas Lane on being named chief of staff to the president at Kansas State University!

Currently serving as vice president for academic success and student affairs and dean of students, Lane has championed student success, well-being and engagement while strengthening partnerships across the university and broader community. Lane will fully transition to his new role on Nov. 8.

From the lab to the Big 12 spotlight.

Carl Ade, associate professor in the School of Health Sciences, has been named K-State’s Big 12 Faculty of the Year honoree for his innovative research in cardiovascular health.

From exploring ways to protect the heart during cancer treatments to contributing to NASA-funded research, Ade's work spans disciplines with a shared goal: better understanding how the body responds to stress. His research also helps advance cardiovascular disease risk assessment and creates hands-on learning opportunities for the next generation of health professionals and researchers.
