SD Promise City

SD Promise City A completion program that provides up to 2 years of free tuition & health fees to eligible students.

In 2016, the San Diego Community College District launched the San Diego Promise, which implements a local version of America's College Promise for free community colleges. The San Diego Promise pays for enrollment fees and provides book grants for participating students at City, Mesa, and Miramar colleges. The San Diego Promise is ultimately intended to ensure that no deserving local students are

denied the opportunity to go to college due to lack of resources. Started as a pilot program with 186 students, the San Diego Promise will expand to 800 students in 2017-18. Program participants are required to be enrolled in at least 12 units for both fall and spring, participate in eight hours of community service, and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0. The program is limited to graduating seniors from the San Diego Unified School District, eligible students from San Diego Continuing Education, and students from the Monarch School, which serves homeless students in downtown San Diego.

Hello Promise Community!

This is a friendly reminder that the Promise Office will be closed on Monday, September 7, to observe Labor Day.

We will return to normal operations on Tuesday, September 8th.

Why celebrate Labor Day? Labor Day is a holiday to remember the sacrifices and struggle of working class people; it's a date of celebration to acknowledge the treatment of laborers, and it's a reminder that the struggle for equity in the workforce has not ended.

Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894 to honor the efforts of unions and workers in establishing rules and regulations to make working safer. Labor Day grew alongside the 8 hour workday, the ending of child labor, and increased occupational safety in the United States. This Labor Day, take some time to consider what we can do to take up the mantle and continue to fight for the liberation of working class people today.

Fall 2026 is just around the corner--classes will begin in less than 2 weeks!

Make sure to keep up to date with important deadlines and dates throughout the semester.

For students waitlisting courses, do you know how to get off the waitlist?
If students drop the class before the start of the semester, you may be automatically added to the course. If not, you will have to obtain a permission number from your professor.
