By the Bay Health has partnered with Dominican to present a screening of the PBS documentary “When My Time Comes,” followed by a panel discussion exploring Medical Aid in Dying (MAID), serious illness, end-of-life care and the importance of compassionate, patient-centered decision-making. The screening and discussion, free and open to the public, will be held in Dominican’s Guzman Lecture Hall on September 23 from 6–8 p.m.

Robert Chase already had a successful sales career in the healthcare sector. But he was curious about how businesses work holistically and enrolled in Dominican's MBA. And the rest is history. Inspired by what he learned about design principles and systems thinking, he saw an opportunity to reduce the enormous amounts of plastic waste in hospital operating rooms. He founded NewGen Surgical, a company that now delivers line of five sustainable products into more than a quarter of U.S. Hospitals and is growing internationally. He remains connected to Dominican by offering internships and filling key positions in his company with Dominican students and alumni.

“Dominican is a family legacy,” says Kevin Sunga ’15. The legacy includes Kevin’s wife, Elizabeth “Nikki” Chan-Sunga, and relatives Susana “Stacey” Cummings, Francis Sunga, Yvonne Bamba, Joanne Bamba, and Mirabella Mercado-Sunga, Francis’ spouse. Today, Kevin serves as deputy director of Little Manila Rising, a place-based social justice nonprofit in Stockton.
