You are invited to join the GEV community service event: Tree-planting event at the Willows Preserve on Sunday, November 8th. 👩‍🌾🌳The Radnor Shade Tree Commission and Pennsylvania Horticultural Society are hosting the event.

🚌 Transportation: Please arrive at the Mendel Parking lot by 9:45am. We will leave at 10am sharp! We will return by 2pm.
👕 Attire: You are strongly encouraged to wear a long-sleeve shirt, pants, and closed-toe shoes. Please wear clothes you won't worry about getting dirty.
🔨 Materials/What to expect: The holes will be pre-dug for us, but we’ll be handing root-ball saplings (our guess is 5-7 foot tall trees) that will need to be positioned accordingly. We will then shovel dirt to complete the planting. Tools for planting, gloves, and bug spray will be provided.

❗Please note that upon arriving on site, you will be required to fill out a liability form.

Happy Master's Student Monday, GEV! Today’s featured student is Emelia Pettit.

Emelia is a graduate student pursuing the Master of Science in Environmental Science (thesis track). They’re originally from Southington, Connecticut, and earned their undergraduate degree in Environmental Science from Wheaton College in Massachusetts.

Their favorite course so far is Intro to GIS, and they’re especially excited to explore the world of data. Emelia anticipates graduating in 2027, and after completing their master’s, they plan to pursue a PhD.

Outside of academics, Emelia enjoys caring for their pet rats!
