ScienceScape, a five-day/four-night academic camp held in June, inspired rising 7th and 8th grade students through hands-on scientific discovery centered on the science of water. Guided by undergraduate and graduate WISP members, along with students from the Teaching Sprint Program, campers explored an interdisciplinary curriculum, participated in engaging campus activities, and developed their scientific interests. The camp concluded with presentations showcasing what participants learned and highlighting the contributions of female scientists who have shaped the field. Family members and camp staff gathered to celebrate the campers’ achievements and growing passion for science.

đź”—At the bottom! The Heising-Simons Foundation is accepting applications for the prestigious 51 Pegasi b Postdoctoral Fellowship now through October 1, 2026. This program annually supports up to eight early-career scientists advancing planetary astronomy through theoretical, observational, and experimental research in solar system science, exoplanetary science, and related fields. Selected fellows are awarded up to $492,000 over three years to conduct novel research at a host institution of their choosing.

Purdue University is a proud host institution for this fellowship, with 16 faculty mentors conducting research in a wide range of planetary astronomy-related topics across EAPS and Physics and Astronomy. 60 Minutes Host Scott Pelley takes viewers deep inside Hang Son Doong, a cave in Vietnam, which features an underground landscape of epic scale. The segment “Wonder of the World” features Darryl Granger, a long-time caver and geologist who has studied the cave and was on the 2010 expedition showing it was the world’s largest cave passage. Granger is also Purdue University’s College of Science Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs and a Purdue EAPS professor.

While most artificial intelligence models focus on predicting a single, static protein structure, biological reality is far more fluid. Protein function, from drug binding to enzyme activity, is driven by constant motion and rare, transient conformations.

A Purdue University team has developed a solution to that problem. Purdue Science researchers Guang Lin and Ming Chen recently published their multiscale protein dynamics model, named ProTDyn, which has been accepted as a main conference paper at the International Conference on Learning Representations (ICLR) 2026.
