🚂 Celebrating research excellence at Purdue College of Science!
Five of our faculty members — Wesley Cochrane, Michael Vermeuel, Weiruo Zhang, Qi (Tony) D**g and Hanzhe Liu — have received 2026 Showalter Early Career Awards.

Their research spans a wide range of challenges, from understanding air pollution and removing harmful contaminants from water to advancing cancer research and exploring new possibilities for precision therapeutics.

Lasers, the Doppler effect and AI could help doctors determine which chemotherapy drug is most effective for an individual patient's tumor.

Purdue Physics and Astronomy researcher David Nolte is developing a biodynamic imaging system that can detect very small movements inside living tissue and use those changes to understand how tumors respond to treatment. The goal is to give doctors better information to personalize cancer treatment, potentially within 48 hours of a biopsy.
