Dr. Kate McKinney and Simulation Operations Specialist, Michelle Rosano, presented an interactive session at the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties meeting on how realistic simulations build nurse practitioner student confidence. A lot goes into creating lifelike simulations—immense clinical knowledge, great patient script writing, trained patient actors, and convincing moulage. Dr. McKinney and Michelle are a great team that make the FNP simulation scenarios come to life!

With great sadness, we share the passing of our beloved Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing student, Oluwalayomi Fadero. While turning into her neighborhood in Nashville, Oluwalayomi was tragically struck and killed by another vehicle on March 20, 2026.

Oluwalayomi, known to us all as Layo, was pursuing her BSN and was a valued member of the August 2026 cohort. She brought light to those around her through her kindness, generosity, beautiful smile, and genuine passion for helping others.

She will be deeply missed by our College of Nursing community, who had the privilege of knowing and learning alongside her. As we grieve this loss, we also carry forward her compassion, determination, and warmth in the way we care for others and support one another.
