We’re incredibly proud to celebrate DMTC alum Amelia Rose Glenn for their work as a Costume Production Assistant on "The Devil Wears Prada 2!" 👠

Asha George has played an instrumental role behind the scenes at the Detroit Mercy Theatre Company. Asha joined the company as a Theatre Assistant in 2024 and has since been a dedicated crew member on six mainstage productions. This season she put her skills to work coordinating the many costume changes backstage for “I’m Gonna Marry You, Tobey Maguire” and crafting costume pieces for “Poor Clare” and “Twelfth Night.” Her meticulous attention to detail, whether sewing, painting, or using power tools has made her an invaluable member of our team!

Though she never appeared on stage in a DMTC production, Asha was part of the very first event in the Black Box Theatre. She presented her original work during the Homecoming 2025 poetry reading featuring Michigan Poet Laureate Melba Joyce Boyd.

After graduating with a B.A. in English, Asha will be moving to Seattle to pursue her M.F.A. in Creative Writing at the University of Washington. We know she will approach this new adventure with deep commitment to her craft, and we are so excited to see her future successes as a writer! Congratulations, Asha!

The Department of Performing Arts and the Detroit Mercy Theatre Company train students to develop their intellectual, ethical and practical skills for a creative future, and it is with pride that we recognize and congratulate our graduating students who’ve earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major or minor in theatre.

Josiah Martelle has been a valuable member of the Detroit Mercy Theatre Company, contributing both on and off the stage. He appeared in seven mainstage productions, with memorable performances as Duke Orsino in “Twelfth Night,” The Snail in “A Year with Frog and Toad,” and Pugsley in “The Addams Family Musical.” His performances as Tom Wingfield in “The Glass Menagerie” earned a Irene Ryan nomination for his acting from the American College Theatre Festival Region III.

In addition to his acting, Josiah contributed significantly to the technical side of theatre, working run crew for many shows and even earning recognition for his backstage work on with “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)[revised][again].”

Josiah’s confidence and talent will make DMTC proud as he pursues his creative future. Congratulations, Josiah!

The Department of Performing Arts and the Detroit Mercy Theatre Company train students to develop their intellectual, ethical and practical skills for a creative future, and it is with pride that we recognize and congratulate our graduating students who’ve earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major or minor in theatre.

Gavin Rapuzzi has demonstrated exceptional dedication to his craft throughout his four years at UDM, bringing thoughtfulness and depth to every role. He has appeared in seven mainstage productions, with notable performances as Darcy in "Pride and Prejudice," Gavin in "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) [revised] [again]," Lukas in "The Grown-Ups," and Sebastian in "Twelfth Night." He also contributed to TheatreLab productions and served as Fight Choreographer for "Twelfth Night," earning a Certificate of Merit for Excellence in Fight Choreography from the American College Theatre Festival Region III.

His commitment to DMTC was further recognized in 2026, when he received the Theatre Arts Award from the Department of Performing Arts. He also earned two Irene Ryan nominations for his acting in "Photograph 51" and "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) [revised] [again]."

In addition to his theatrical achievements, Gavin pursued a second major in Political Science and a minor in Religious Studies. He combined his interests in American history and theatre by writing a five-act historical play about the birth of the American Revolution, "These Trials We Face: An American Epic."

Gavin’s intellect, creativity, and affability will undoubtedly propel him toward continued success. Congratulations, Gavin—we look forward to seeing the impact you will make on the world!
