Before classes even began, 30 incoming 1Ls spent a day at the federal courthouse with Judge Jolie Russo!

Judge Russo shared her experience as a first-generation law student and reflected on how staying open to new experiences and intellectually curious shaped her journey to the federal bench. She also shared how practical experiences in law school, including externing with a judge, helped shape her career.

A great reminder for our newest students: Stay curious, stay open, and embrace new experiences!

Professor Keith Cunningham-Parmeter spoke with OPB about the Oregon State University women’s basketball team’s effort to unionize and what the Oregon Employment Relations Board’s decision could mean for student-athletes nationwide.

More than 100 college women’s basketball players across the country have signed on to create unions, starting with a push from 10 members of OSU’s team petitioning the university to recognize them as a bargaining unit.

How can law professors integrate climate change and sustainability into legal education? The American Bar Association's Task Force on Sustainability and Climate Change in Legal Education produced a series of essays to encourage American legal educators to embed sustainability within their curricula, courses, and programs. Lewis & Clark Law School Professor Erica Lyman and Director of Environmental Innovation at Lewis & Clark College Gregg Macey served on the task force and contributed to the project.

The task force considered existing approaches to supplement or embed climate and sustainability into legal education, outlined the necessary supportive infrastructure at the university and departmental levels, and issued recommendations for the American Bar Association and legal educators. In addition, the task force prepared resources on a companion website. The collection offers materials for integrating these topics into doctrinal and experiential courses, curricular requirements, university-wide initiatives, and legal practice.
