Real-world research, real-world impact. 📊✨

Last week, Willamette students Jerrick Little and Axel Smart represented the School of Computing and Information Sciences at the 81st annual AAPOR Conference in Los Angeles. These two students presented innovative research on reimagining course evaluations through adaptive, AI-supported survey design.

The project explored how traditional course evaluations can move beyond static ratings to provide more meaningful, actionable feedback for faculty development. The research combined AI tools, psychological scales, question randomization, and advanced survey methodology to rethink how feedback systems can work.

Experiences like this are part of what makes SCIS special - students collaborating directly with faculty on impactful research while connecting with professionals, researchers, and data scientists from across the country.
