Meet Kiera Varela, a St. Philip’s College alumna and current cybersecurity student turning her passion for technology into hands-on experience.

Kiera earned associate degrees in Web and Mobile Development and Cybersecurity from SPC and is now working toward her Bachelor of Applied Technology in Cybersecurity, with plans to graduate in Fall 2026.

Through her internship in SPC’s Security Operations Center and involvement with the Cyber Tigers, Kiera is gaining real-world experience and putting what she learns in the classroom into practice.

“I realized just how advanced the program really is,” Kiera said.

With the support of her mentors and peers, Kiera is building her skills and preparing for what’s next. 🐯💙

Another look at how we celebrated Legacy Day at SPC! We honored the legacy of Saint Artemisia Bowden while breaking ground on the future of our campus.

We were joined by college leadership, Alamo Colleges District leadership, elected officials, donors and key project partners—including LAN, inc., representatives from Stantec, architect and designer Aline Yoldi, and contractors Vaughn and Flintco and H-E-B representatives—to mark three major campus milestones:

Groundbreaking: New Cafeteria and Veterans Hall

Beam-signing: H-E-B Black Box Theater addition to the Watson Fine Arts Center

Ribbon-cutting: Newly renovated Engineering Technology Building

We are grateful for the incredible generosity shown during Legacy Day, including $5,000 from the Boulé Foundation of San Antonio, $25,000 from Robert Gamez to establish a student endowment, and $100,000 from Tom Dobson and the Tres Grace Foundation.

Thank you again to everyone who joined us to leave their mark on the next chapter of SPC. Here’s to the bright future of our Tigers! 💙💛
