Students in the Building Construction program at TSTC’s Waco campus are learning how to cut, measure and fit trim. Trim is exposed for everyone to see, so it has to be done right. Our students have to remember a common rule in construction: Measure twice and cut once. 📏🪚

It’s a feast worthy of Valhalla! ⛵

TSTC’s student-operated restaurant at the Greta W. Watson Culinary Arts Center will serve the Viking Table menu on Wednesday, Nov. 4, and Friday, Nov. 6.

The restaurant is at the corner of 8th Street and Campus Drive. The restaurant is open to the public, but reservations are required. Meals will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on select Wednesdays and Fridays during the semester.

To make a reservation, go to the Culinary Arts menu webpage and fill out the Google form. The form allows people to make reservations on their preferred days for eight people or less. People making reservations will be contacted by email once they are accepted. Changes will not be allowed to reservations the week of serving dates. If nine or more people plan to dine, the request needs to be sent to [email protected].

Happy Friday, and happy spooky season! 👻

Students at TSTC's Waco campus got into the Halloween spirit at the Student Rec Center this week. They carved jack-o’-lanterns, grabbed pizza together, then caught a scary movie with the lights off for some pre-Halloween vibes. 🎃🍕🎬

And the fun isn’t over. Next week is our Fall Fest & Trunk-or-Treat! 🕷️

About 80 area schools and almost 1,550 high school students joined us for a Discovery Day to remember 🙌

About 1,550 attendees from as far away as Iola and Athens — and as close as China Spring, Robinson and Penelope — converged on TSTC’s Waco campus for Discovery Day on Thursday, Oct. 22.

Buses rolled onto campus shortly before 10 a.m. and after checking in, everyone was off and walking!

Our visitors saw fender projects in Auto Collision and Management, while others stepped into the Aircraft Pilot Training program’s flight simulators. The Culinary and Hospitality Management program had cookies at the ready and Computer Networking and Systems Administration and Cybersecurity instructors talked about how to keep the world technologically safe.

We also refueled our guests with 500 pizzas!

Today they explored their career options relevant to their interests. Tomorrow, they help shape Texas.

TSTC in Waco’s Auto Collision and Management program held its first Battle Royale student contest on Wednesday, Oct. 21. Winning students earned scholarships and industry-standard tools.

Our students met the challenge, but only a few soared to the top! 🚘🏆

TSTC’s Auto Collision and Management program hosted its first Battle Royale program competition on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the Fentress Center at the Waco campus.

Students competed in the collision repair and refinishing contests, depending on which certificate or associate degree program they are pursuing. They showed off their skills in dent repair, marking, panel blocking and preparation and other skills. There was also an interview portion.

Collision Repair Category:
🥇 First place: Kevin Crispin of Bryan
🥈 Second place: Horacio Gonzalez of Hillsboro
🥉 Third place: Osvaldo Agonizante of Waco

Refinishing Category:
🥇 First place: Jacob Parga of Fort Worth
🥈 Second place: Leah Coleman of Wichita Falls
🥉 Third place: Angel Becerril of Corsicana

The provost’s office at the Waco campus provided scholarship funding for the winning students. Industry partners also supported the event through sponsorships and in-kind donations, providing valuable tools to the winning competitors through The TSTC Foundation.
