What happens when more than 250 student entrepreneurs from around the world bring their AI-powered ideas to one stage? Innovation, competition, and some seriously impressive pitches.

Westcliff University’s AIPreneurship Competition Finals brought together 14 finalists who presented startup ideas tackling real-world challenges across education, agriculture, real estate, enterprise operations, hospitality, and more — all in front of real angel investors from Tech Coast Angels Venture Group.

Congratulations to all of our finalists for the creativity, preparation, and entrepreneurial spirit they brought to the stage, and a special congratulations to Sarab S., graduate student in Westcliff’s Master of Science in Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence program, whose startup OpsMind AI earned first place. Her platform helps educational institutions connect disconnected software systems into one unified AI-powered dashboard capable of delivering real-time insights and smarter decision-making.

A huge thank you as well to Tech Coast Angels for joining us, mentoring our students, and helping make this experience so meaningful.

The future of AI innovation is already being built by our students, and this was only the beginning.

What started with more than 250 applicants came down to one incredible final night of innovation, entrepreneurship, and big ideas.

At the final pitch event for Westcliff University’s AIpreneurship Competition, 14 student finalists stepped in front of real angel investors to pitch AI-driven startup concepts designed to solve real-world problems across industries. The energy in the room was a reminder of what happens when creativity, technology, and opportunity come together.

Congratulations to our winner, Sarab S., a graduate student in Westcliff’s Master of Science in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence program, for taking home the top prize with OpsMind AI — a platform designed to help academic institutions unify disconnected software systems, streamline data collection, and generate actionable insights through conversational AI.

Some days remind you exactly why community matters, and yesterday was one of them. 💙

In partnership with Restorative Care (formerly Unlimited Possibilities), Westcliff University students, staff, and faculty from multiple campuses spent the afternoon at Rady’s Children’s Hospital in Santa Ana for a day centered on connection, care, and joy.

From obstacle courses and bead-making to playdough activities and meaningful conversations, volunteers supported children ages 5–12 with a range of developmental, verbal, and physical disabilities through experiences designed to encourage both physical and emotional growth.

What stood out most were the moments in between — shared laughter, encouragement, and the resilience each child brought into the room.

For years, Westcliff has been proud to partner with Restorative Care in supporting children and families through inclusive, compassionate programs, and this event was another meaningful step in that ongoing partnership.

Some leaders enter nursing through a classroom. Others arrive through lived experience.

Dr. Andrew Nydegger’s path to becoming Dean of Westcliff University’s College of Nursing was shaped by military service, personal health challenges, years in clinical practice, and a deep belief in what compassionate nursing care can mean for someone’s life.

Now, he brings that perspective to Westcliff at a pivotal moment for the College of Nursing — with a vision centered on student success, clinical excellence, hands-on learning, and preparing future nurses to lead with both skill and empathy.

“What she did for me doesn’t just end with me. It begins with me,” Dr. Nydegger shared, reflecting on the nurse practitioner who once saved his life and inspired his own journey into nursing.

From simulation labs designed to mirror real hospital environments to a strong focus on NCLEX readiness and faculty excellence, Dr. Nydegger’s leadership reflects a clear mission: preparing nurses who are ready to make a meaningful impact from day one.

We’re proud to welcome him to the Westcliff community and excited for what’s ahead for our nursing students and programs.
