Columbia University in the City of New York is one of the world’s leading institutions of research and higher education. Columbia was founded in 1754 as King’s College by royal charter
of King George II. As a proud member of the Ivy League, Columbia is known for its centuries-long legacy. It is the oldest institution of higher education in New York State. Today, Columbia comprises 17 schools and four affiliate institutions, all located within and around New York City. The University remains deeply engaged with the Empire City, drawing on its resources to enrich the student experience and foster innovative research.
