In an effort to preserve and maintain an elemental part of NYU’s Washington Square campus, the university has announced that it is doubling its financial support for Washington Square Park, pledging $6 million over four years to the Washington Square Park Conservancy, the nonprofit stewards of the landmark greenspace.

“Washington Square Park is a public space where our employees and students gather and connect, and where our faculty members and their families play and build community. Everyone here in the Village and who comes here to visit deserves a vibrant, thriving, and safe Washington Square Park, and we are proud to be the Conservancy’s partners in this work.” –NYU President Linda G. Mills

For more than 20 years, NYU has contributed to the renovation, maintenance, and operations of the park adjacent to its campus—one of the city’s most dynamic civic spaces. NYU is able to increase its contribution to the Conservancy thanks, in part, to philanthropic support. New York City has awarded NYU $29.2 million to establish a Quantum Fabrication Facility (QFab) at 770 Broadway, NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced earlier this month. Backed by $284 million in private and public funding, the lab will give researchers, higher education students, start-ups, and companies access to facilities and resources needed to develop and test quantum technology. Additionally, to grow the number of NYC jobs in the quantum field, NYU will provide students at the City University of New York (CUNY) and New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) with access to state-of-the-art labs, training, new certificate programs, and summer workshops. This “first-of-its-kind” agreement also gives the City a stake in technologies that emerge from QFab, setting up New York City to be a leader of the growing industry. It’s looking like a picture-perfect weekend in NYC, and we look forward to seeing so many of you at NYU Alumni and Families Weekend 2026! 🍂 Here are some tips to make the most of your time on campus:

💜 Check in at the Kimmel Center (Friday 9–5 and Saturday 8–6) before attending your first event to pick up your name badge and tote bag. If you’re heading to a Thursday event, a Friday evening event (including Violet After Dark at Gotham Hall), the Perstare Society Breakfast on Saturday morning, or a Sunday event, you can check in directly at your event venue. ✅

💜 Casual and comfortable is perfect for most activities. Bring a jacket or extra layers. For dean’s luncheons and evening celebrations, feel free to dress up a bit.🕺

💜 We recommend taking public transportation to make your way to the Washington Square Park area—the A, C, E, B, D, F, M, N, and R subway lines all stop near NYU. 🚇
