A look inside rehearsals for the 2026 Annual Henri Lazarof Chamber Concert.

This year, we are thrilled to feature the World Premiere of a new work by Geli Li, winner of the 2025 Commission Prize. Watching Li collaborate with virtuosos Irina Muresanu and Asiya Korepanova has been an incredible preview of what's to come this Sunday.

Join us as we bridge the gap between contemporary mastery and the legacy of Henri Lazarof.

Join us this Friday, May 1st at 6:00 PM for a special evening of live music featuring student vocalist Ash Schwartz. 💐

This recital is a big moment for Ash (Mezzo-Soprano), a junior double-majoring in Music and History. As a vocalist, they will be performing three centuries of music - from the early impressionistic songs of Debussy to the 18th-century operatic heights of Christoph Willibald Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice.

The performance will also include signature tunes from the golden age of musical theater - featuring favorites from Sweeney Todd, My Fair Lady, She Loves Me, and The Sound of Music!

Ash will be joined by talented pianist and vocal coach, Grace Spicuzza.

Event is FREE and OPEN to the public! RSVP is optional but recommended - link in bio.

Did you know that over 50 boxes of musical history are currently housed in the Brandeis University vaults? The Henri Lazarof Archives contain 170 manuscripts that serve as the original blueprints for some of the 20th century’s most complex compositions.

These documents offer a rare, unfiltered look at how a composer moves from a silent thought to a symphonic score. You can explore these sketches in our digital exhibit, which you can visit via the link in our IG bio or at https://www.brandeis.edu/library/archives/exhibits/lazarof/index.shtml.

Join us this Sunday, May 3, at 3:00 PM at the Slosberg Music Center to hear this history in person at the 2026 Annual Henri Lazarof Chamber Concert. Reserve your spot at the link in our bio. See you there!
