🏡 What can housing data tell us about the state of rural Alabama?
AURPI’s Social Science Team has a new publication exploring housing trends across the state, comparing rural and urban communities through vacancy rates, homeownership, housing types and affordability.
Using data from the American Community Survey, researchers found that while housing affordability is a concern across the state, renters face some of the greatest challenges. The study also highlights differences in housing types, with rural counties having a higher percentage of mobile homes and urban areas having more apartments.
Our team hopes that these findings can help communities and decision-makers better understand local housing needs and plan for the future.
