VCT has been hopping with lots of events, guests, and students the last couple of weeks! From Preview Day to Women in STEM to a Photography in Sports workshop! It is awesome when our faculty, students and alumni come together to show the depth and breadth of our program.
Zack, Keira, Ainsley, and Hailey, vct students, helped talk with prospective students and families on Saturday the 24th. Today we gave a workshop "Digital Design in Action" with Autumn, Hailey, and Ainsley helping our faculty Laney, Maggie, Chuck, Beth, and Donna take 45 students from Design to Production with Dye Sublimation and large format Packaging/digital cutting! It was awesome and the girls said they "loved" it!.
Tonight Isiah Vasquez, an alumni is giving a two day workshop for our students interested in sports photography. If you haven't seen Isiah's work, follow him on social media! He is simply awesome. What an opportunity for our students! VCT is fully engaged in emerging visual media! Just a couple of pics!

Guidance Counselor Day! Bringing the individuals from all around that provide direction and information to high school and community colleges to show them VCT! In particular, they were interested in the cross-section of creative and engineering. What better way to show that than our Packaging and Prototyping Lab! Laney, Beth, Maggie, Donna and our VCT student Hailey showed them the press, the digital cutting table and the outcome. The packaging industry in Ohio and surrounding areas is hot and growing - they need packaging designers, engineers, trouble-shooters, customer service and all around great VCT graduates! We will get them ready for careers that are upward bound! Thank you to the counselors that made the trek out to the Engineering and Innovation Center to learn about VCT!

Homecoming '26 is now just a memory, but better late than never with photos capturing the tailgate! Enjoy some photos from the College of Engineering & Innovation.

Of course, VCT faculty and alumni had a great time reconnecting! Thanks to Chuck, Maggie, Laney, Beth, and Donna for being at the tailgate! Beth gave tours in the morning of the lab - stop by or let us know if you would like a tour.

If you are coming to any of the future games or events on campus, please send us an email and bring a few business cards! Our Wall of Fame is getting a facelift soon and we need your cards for it! Thanks Chase for remembering to bring them and I am trying to find the photo with you and your parents!

Sandy, we missed you and didn't get updates or photos! Steve, so glad to see photos of you and your parents! Elena, Lori and Dean Savage were here with us too! We are always happy to see Kerri and her son, but missed you Chrissy and Merc!!
Enjoy!

Several weeks ago, the College of Engineering & Innovation held a Scholarship recognition event. We are so proud of our students that received the first ever Fenner Scholarship for Print & Packaging! Ashlyn Moeller and Keira Sweeney were recognized as the inaugural recipients.

This scholarship was established to support Visual Communication Technology (VCT) students developing the creative, technical, and problem-solving skills that will help shape the future of print and packaging; the future of an industry depends on the people we invest in today.

Alan Fenner believes that education created opportunities that helped shaped his career. Seeing opportunities take shape for the next generation of students makes this milestone especially meaningful for VCT and our students. We are so proud of Alan! Thank you so much. He is so impressive and is very accomplished so quickly in the field. Check him out on LinkedIn! Packaging Engineer | Disney Consumer Products | Structural Design, Sustainability, Supply Chain Optimization, Magic Maker✨

Another important VCT scholarship that we are so grateful for is from one of our own, faculty emeritus Chuck Spontelli and The Spontelli Family Scholarship! This year Audrey Helms received the award. Chuck and Christy look forward each year to meet the scholarship recipient and this year Christy was able to represent the family and welcome Audrey to the students that they have helped! Their generosity to help our current and future of students has had a lasting impression and it has made a difference! Thank you very much!
VCT PROUD!! 👏👏👏👏👁️

Great day for learning! Whitney Taylor, who is in UX Leadership @ Google spoke with our User Experience class in VCT! Whitney is a passionate design leader with extensive experience building and leading first class teams, and delivering elegant and innovative solutions to the masses. She is currently leading YouTube’s transformation toward a more interactive and connected ecosystem that empowers participation and creation for everyone.

It was such a great class with lots of interaction - such awesome, thoughtful questions from our students. We discussed a range of topics, that included AI and the impacts in the industry. Whitney is a VCT graduate and a BGSU women's basketball alumni. She is such an inspiration to VCT students and faculty!

VCT & Best Robotics had a great day on Saturday! VCT held two workshops for HS students from a variety of schools from all over Ohio. We helped students learn digital graphics and production processes that they could use when developing their robotics team's entry into a competition later this fall at BGSU.

A huge shout-out to Laney Fugett, Maggie Leonard, Chuck Spontelli, Donna Trautman, and Beth Vollmar for all of the preparation beforehand and then teaching both workshops on a Saturday! Hailey W. did an awesome job designing both the Robotics Survival Kit box and the Dye Sublimation T-shirt and coasters! Thanks also to Hailey, Autumn and El for participating and helping throughout the workshops! We couldn't have done this with out your help and Team VCT!

WE'RE BACK!! Students are back at BGSU and VCT is all moved back into our labs. It has been an intense summer getting ready for the fall, but we are so happy to have VCT spaces!
Friday afternoon we welcomed new VCT students during the Academic Welcome event. An opening by faculty, Dean Mokhtar, and VCTO officers started the day. (And President Rogers and Shaq were also hanging out with us!) We toured the labs, completed a dye sub project, handed out VCT T-shirts, and BGSU cutouts (that's what is in their bags!). Excited to see the new students getting ready for their awesome college years! Here's to another year of growth!
